The Human Resource Department of the Ministry of Education, Sustainable Development, Innovation, Science, Technology and Vocational Training recently held a special orientation meeting for young Saint Lucians preparing to study in Taiwan for the upcoming academic year.

The session aimed to equip the soon-to-depart scholars with practical guidance and reassurance as they prepare for life abroad. In attendance was Saint Lucia’s Ambassador to Taiwan, His Excellency Dr. Robert Lewis, who delivered a comprehensive briefing outlining essential steps students should take during their final weeks on island, as well as insights into what they can expect during their early months in Taiwan.

Also addressing the gathering was Hon. Shawn Edward, Minister for Education, Sustainable Development, Innovation, Science, Technology and Vocational Training. The Minister offered words of encouragement and support, commending the students on their achievement and encouraging them to make the most of the educational opportunities ahead.

Joining Dr. Lewis were his wife and a current Saint Lucian student in Taiwan, both of whom engaged directly with the attendees, answering questions and sharing personal experiences to help ease concerns and offer realistic expectations about studying and living in Taiwan.

The meeting was described as informative and uplifting, reinforcing the government’s continued commitment to supporting Saint Lucians in their pursuit of higher education abroad.
