In 2024, Sherman earned four caps for the Saint Lucia Senior National Team in the Concacaf Nations League. According to National Assistant Coach Francis “Baba” Lastic, Sherman was “a hard and dedicated worker whose modus operandi was putting the team first.” Lastic described him as a rising star with tremendous potential and a team-first mentality.
In September 2022, Augustin took his talents beyond Saint Lucian shores, joining Grenades FC in Antigua. His impact was immediate. Club President Chester Hughes praised Sherman’s contribution to the squad, stating, “He brought pride, passion, and power to our midfield. Since joining us from Saint Lucia, Sherman has been a game-changer — helping lead us to our historic 2022/23 league title.”
Augustin’s commitment to the game and his ability to inspire those around him made him a standout athlete. Whether in Saint Lucia or abroad, he played with heart and represented his nation with pride and dignity. His presence on the field will be dearly missed.
The Saint Lucia Football Association Inc. joins the rest of the sporting fraternity in mourning this devastating loss. Sherman Augustin was more than a footballer — he was a beacon of promise for Saint Lucian football. Gone too soon, but never forgotten.
