Three Saint Lucian artistes will take the stage at this year’s World Creole Music Festival (WCMF), scheduled for October 24 to 26 in Dominica.
The featured performers, headlined by Ezra D’Funmachine, include Arthur Allain and Imran Nerdy. This initiative is the result of a strong collaboration between Export Saint Lucia (ESL) and the Discover Dominica Authority (DDA).
At a media launch on Thursday, the artistes were introduced, underscoring the unique vibrancy and dynamism of Dominica’s WCMF as it celebrates 25 years of success.
Sunita Daniel, ESL’s CEO, emphasized the agency’s commitment to helping artists with their international performances. She highlighted ESL’s earlier support that enabled Dennery Segment performers to shine during the Dominica Carnival.
“This year, we are diversifying the genres our artistes explore in Dominica,” Daniel asserted.
Daniel further stressed that this event is an important opportunity to enhance the export of Saint Lucia’s creative sector.
“For years, we have placed significant emphasis on this aspect,” she added, noting the various music workshops and training initiatives ESL has conducted to elevate local artists’ profiles internationally, including participation at the Export Dubai event.
Dominica’s WCMF is a vital and worthwhile initiative, and ESL is proud to partner in it, excited to provide a platform for our artistes on the international stage.
Devin St Hilaire, a key entertainment -stakeholder from Dominica, announced the introduction of the Viva La Carnival during this year’s Lucian Carnival activities. He described the event as a Big Truck – Cooler Fete set to take place at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground (DSCG), inviting everyone to join in the festivities.
Monelle Alexis, DDA’s PR and Communications Specialist, hailed the collaboration between Saint Lucian entertainers and Dominica’s stakeholders as “Cultural Champions.”
She affirmed, “The 25th edition of the World Creole Music Festival transcends a mere music event; it embodies a Caribbean Movement, paying tribute to the journey that began in 1997, built on principles of equity, resilience, and connection.”
Alexis highlighted the exciting lineup for WCFM—‘Global Echoes of the Nature Isle’—which will feature diverse acts over three nights, along with the lively community events that Dominica offers, including its stunning rivers.
On opening night, October 24, a ‘Tribute to the Legends’ will showcase top global artists such as Steel Pulse from the UK, Burning Flames from Antigua, Romain Virgo from Jamaica, and TK International from Dominica, along with performers from Haiti, the USA, and beyond.
The final night promises to be a highlight as the dynamic trio of Ezra, Arthur, and Imran take to the stage.
Minister for Tourism and Creative Industries Dr. Ernest Hilaire fully supports this initiative, stating that it represents a “fantastic opportunity” to bolster WCMF and strengthen this important collaboration.
