The Monsignor Patrick Anthony Folk Research Centre (FRC) has published its annual Emancipation Lecture for 2024. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Morgan Dalphinis, Saint Lucian linguistics scholar and poet who has worked for many years in tracing the African roots of our culture and particularly the Kwéyòl language.

The lecture is titled Kwéyòl Origins: Society and identity, Emancipation and Independence. It was originally delivered in Saint Lucia 29th July 2024 and also presented at the Saint Lucia High Commission in London, 16th August 2024.

In this year’s National Awards, Dr. Dalphinis, who has lived for many years in London, was in Saint Lucia to receive the Saint Lucia Medal of Honour (Gold) for “eminent service rendered in the field of Linguistics (St. Lucian Kwéyòl).”

The published booklet of the lecture is now available at the FRC, Barnard’s Hill, Castries.
