Exciting Action in SLFA’s League Competitions

The Saint Lucia Football Association (SLFA), in collaboration with FIFA, officially launched the Senior Women’s Championship at the Phillip Marcellin Ground (PMG) in Vieux Fort last Sunday.

The opening fixture showcased newcomers Choiseul and Anse La Raye, who battled to a 1 – 1 draw. Chewem Vernieul set the tone for Choiseul by scoring in the 17th minute, but Shariella Arthur brought Anse La Raye back into the game with an equalizer in the 58th minute.

In another match, Canaries defeated Soufriere 4 – 0, highlighted by a remarkable brace from Cassandra Shepherd in the 17th and 38th minutes. Kylah Solomon opened up the scoring in the 5th minute, followed by Marissa Duncan’s goal in the 70th minute.

The SLFA Senior Women’s Championship 2025 currently features eight competitive teams: Anse La Raye, Canaries (Champions 2024), Central Castries (1st runner-up 2024), Choiseul (NEW), Dennery, National U-17, Soufriere, and Vieux Fort South (2nd runner-up 2024).

Matches are scheduled at the Soufriere Mini Stadium, Phillip Marcellin Ground, Corinth Playing Field, and Anse La Raye Playing Field on Sundays and Wednesdays.

In addition, the SLFA Inc. Boys Under 12 District Championship, powered by ACADO, the Ministry of Youth Development & Sports, and The National Lotteries Authority (NLA), made waves over the weekend.

Roseau Valley U12 Boys team

On Saturday, April 26, at the Corinth Playing Field, Roseau Valley rebounded strongly from their first-round loss, defeating Marchand 3 – 0. Messiah John scored an own goal in the 1st minute, but Israel Evans and Urion Charlery sealed the victory with goals in the 57th and 59th minutes, respectively.

On Sunday, April 27, at the Technical Centre in Grande Riviere, Dennery, Soufriere took an early 1-0 lead, but Anse La Raye responded with determination, resulting in a 1-all draw.

Soufriere initially led with an own goal from Mitchel Deterville in the 20th minute, but Anse La Raye made a strong comeback to equalize in the 40th minute.
