The United Workers Party (UWP) held its 43rd convention on Sunday, reaffirming its commitment to the people of Saint Lucia. The convention saw the reelection of the current executive, with Political Leader Allen Chastanet remaining unchallenged, signaling the continued confidence and unity within the party.
Guest speakers from across the region reinforced the importance of regional collaboration and party unity. Natasha Grey-Brookes, Leader of the People’s Action Movement in St. Kitts and Nevis, and Dr. Thomson Fontaine, Leader of the United Workers Party in Dominica, addressed the convention virtually, offering messages of solidarity and encouragement. Krystal Lee, Member of Parliament for Saint Ann North Western, Jamaica, representing the Jamaica Labour Party, reminded delegates of the importance of unity and teamwork in achieving national progress.
The feature speaker, Emmalin Pierre, the first female leader of Grenada’s New National Party and soon-to-be sworn-in Leader of the Opposition, delivered a powerful address, emphasising leadership, resilience and the role of strong governance in national development.
A total of 13 motions were ratified at the convention, outlining key policy positions that will guide the UWP when it forms the next government. These motions cover critical areas such as healthcare, education, agriculture, security, cost of living, and beach access, reflecting the party’s commitment to addressing the most pressing issues facing the people of Saint Lucia.

As part of the UWP’s 60th anniversary celebrations, party stalwarts were recognized for their contributions, with awards presented in honour of the party’s founders and their lasting impact on Saint Lucia’s political landscape.
The convention reinforced the UWP’s vision for a stronger, more prosperous Saint Lucia, united under steadfast leadership and dedicated to improving the lives of all citizens.
