Saint Lucia National Boxing Team to Compete in Guadeloupe

Six members of the Saint Lucia national boxing team will depart the island today, en-route to the Caribbean Trophy Boxing Tournament in Guadeloupe.

The athletes will undergo Medicals and Weighing tomorrow, Thursday March 27 ahead of the Tournament`s Technical Meeting.

Pugilist and 2025 Caribbean Gold medalist John Didier and region`s best Junior Boxer Nathan Alex are expected to lead the charge for team St. Lucia.

President of the St. Lucia Boxing Association David “Shakes” Christopher is confident of the team`s performance, following weeks of strategic preparation. According to Christopher “The French Territories are traditionally a good Stomping Ground for Saint Lucia boxers who have recorded good success and, on this occasion, we expect nothing less for this team of seasoned athletes, especially following recent showing at the AMBC Caribbean Boxing Championships”.

He also encouraged Saint Lucians living in Guadeloupe to come support the national team March 27 – 29 at the Gymnase Laura Flessel in Petit-Bourg.

During the visit to Guadeloupe, the President is expected to host key bi-lateral meetings with the administrators of boxing in the French Overseas Territories.

The aim is to discuss areas of mutual interest and corporation for future development of boxing in individual countries and the revival of the Creole Boxing Championships.
