Island Champs Grand Finals at Soufriere Mini Stadium Tomorrow

THE grand finale of this season’s revamped Island Champs track and field meet takes place tomorrow (Sunday) at the Soufriere Mini Stadium, promising intense rivalry among athletes.

Secondary school athletes from across the island have delivered impressive performances in the preliminary rounds, earning this event significant acclaim within the national school sports community and among local supporters.

Sports Minister Kenson Casimir commends this annual meet for fostering fierce competition among athletes. He expresses confidence in the future growth of the event, as well as in its potential to attract more major competing institutions.

After the Field Events, the standings show the St. Lucia Sports Academy (SLSA) leading, followed closely by Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary School (VFCSS) and Leon Hess Secondary School (LHSS), with St. Mary’s College (SMC) also in the mix.

The track and field qualifiers took place on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

This is a competitive Boys/Girls Champs, with St. Mary’s College and St. Joseph’s Convent leading their respective divisions.

On Sunday, expect thrilling events including the 80m, 100m, 200m, 300m, 400m, 800m, 5000m open, and various relay races (4x100m, 4x300m, and 4x400m).
