YOUNG Saint Lucian star-cyclist Denver Alphonse has lately been making a significant impact on the regional cycling circuit.
At the Mémorial Labéjof & Denise races last weekend in Martinique, Denver delivered an impressive performance, securing two third-place finishes in the competition organized by Pedal-Pilotine of Rivière-Pilote.
He represented Saint Lucia alongside Gillan Moses.
During the 10-kilometre individual time trial on Saturday, Denver displayed his talent by finishing third in his division with a time of 20:59.
The following day, he competed in a challenging 130km road race, finishing in 4:01:33, placing 13th overall and capturing third in the Under-19 division, which included 17 young athletes. Out of 48 starters, only 28 completed the demanding course.
Lois Jean Baptiste emerged as the top junior athlete, finishing 3:56:36, which placed him ninth overall. Néhémy Jean Baptiste followed closely as the second Under-19 rider, finishing in 3:56:47 and 11th overall.
Stefan Bennett of JC231 claimed victory in the road race with a time of 3:38:03, 56 seconds ahead of Gert Kivistik, while Laurent Néror secured third place with a time of 3:39:45.
The event honors iconic cyclist Charles Labéjof and former Pedal-Pilote president Serge Denise.
Following their participation, the Saint Lucian riders remained in Martinique for further training with members of Karaibe Culture Sport.
