Dr. Virginia Albert-Poyotte, the Parliamentary Representative for Babonneau, expresses her excitement regarding the notable improvements and upgrades taking place in the community, emphasizing their wider impact on sports development, eco-tourism, and opportunities for generating income.

Furthermore, Dr. Albert-Poyotte has indicated that efforts are underway to upgrade Babonneau to town status, which will further improve the community’s infrastructure and amenities.

Recently, after the Babonneau Senior Men Cricket team’s remarkable win in the Prime Minister’s T20 Cricket Competition, the energy and excitement within the community are palpable.

The team’s exhilarating final against Castries Central concluded with a hard-earned victory, securing them the prestigious trophy and a cash prize of $25,000.

During a recent media briefing, Dr. Albert-Poyotte conveyed her pride in the team’s outstanding performance and encouraged the players to maintain their commitment and determination in upcoming competitions.

“It is with immense pride that I celebrate the cricket team’s outstanding achievement alongside the Babonneau constituency,” Dr. Albert-Poyotte stated.

“Their perseverance and commitment to excellence have been nothing short of inspiring, and I extend my heartfelt congratulations for this victory,” she added.

The Parliamentary Representative underscored the crucial need for long-term investments in sports development in Babonneau. She attributed the team’s success to proactive initiatives, such as the annual Parliamentary Representative Cricket Tournament, which has attracted 19 teams over the past two years.

“As Parliamentary Representative, my support for cricket and football has been unwavering,” Dr. Albert-Poyotte asserted. “Through initiatives like the annual cricket tournament, we are nurturing local talent and establishing a solid foundation for future achievements. We have also committed financial support of up to $10,000 to assist teams in their preparations and organization.”

Dr. Albert-Poyotte emphasized ongoing efforts to enhance sports infrastructure in Babonneau. “Our constituency is privileged to have four significant playing fields—two for cricket and two for football. The fencing of the Babonneau playing field, adjacent to the Babonneau Secondary School, is nearing completion and will provide students and the community with new opportunities for sporting and public events,” she elaborated.

In addition to the Babonneau field, developments are progressing on the La Guerre playing field, catering to track and field, football, and cricket. Improvements are also underway at the Des Barres playing field, primarily focused on cricket.

Dr. Albert-Poyotte highlighted the importance of these upgrades, especially given the rising interest from international cricket players visiting Babonneau. She expressed strong support for Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre’s initiative to introduce a professional cricket league, asserting that it will provide local cricketers with invaluable opportunities to develop their skills and advance in the sport, like the progress made in football.

Beyond sports, Dr. Albert-Poyotte outlined numerous ongoing community development initiatives in Babonneau, including constructing new toilet facilities in Des Barres and Fond Assau, as well as ongoing improvements to the Balata playing field.

“We are advancing critical projects such as a new smart health center, expanded business facilities, and improved road networks to ensure Babonneau continues to thrive,” Dr. Albert-Poyotte declared.

“My commitment to addressing the needs of our people is unwavering; I will tirelessly advocate for the betterment of this vibrant constituency,” the Babonneau MP stated.

As celebrations continue in Babonneau, the community is poised for a future brimming with sporting achievements and sustained growth, both on and off the field.
