THE celebrations in Saint Lucia’s 46th Anniversary of Independence were nothing short of electrifying, and at the heart of the action was the Saint Lucia Motor Sports Association (SLMSA), which played a pivotal role in fueling the excitement.
From orchestrating the seamless arrival and departure of its regional sporting family to delivering adrenaline-pumping motorsport events, the SLMSA proved, once again, why it is a driving force in Saint Lucia’s sporting landscape.
With participants from Dominica, Martinique, Barbados, St. Vincent and Grenada, the SLMSA took on the massive responsibility of handling the logistics for motorcycles, sound vehicles, cars, and off-road vehicles arriving for the celebrations. Despite operating with a small but dedicated team of volunteers and limited resources, the Association ensured that all arrivals and departures were executed with precision and efficiency—a true testament to their commitment and passion for motorsports.
The excitement kicked off on February 19th with a Welcome Party at Pigeon Point, where the regional riders and motorsport enthusiasts were greeted in true Saint Lucian fashion. The event was a carnival-style affair, buzzing with music, camaraderie, and high-octane energy. It was a celebration of both brotherhood and sport, setting the perfect tone for the thrilling events which followed.
The Supermoto Event on February 22nd transformed the Castries Waterfront into a high-speed battleground, where skill, speed, and pure adrenaline took center stage. The riders pushed their limits, weaving through the track with breathtaking precision, much to the delight of the enthusiastic crowd of over 400 spectators. The roar of engines, the screech of tires, and the sheer skill of the riders made for an unforgettable spectacle that kept fans on the edge of their seats.
As if the Supermoto action wasn’t enough, the Island Ride on February 23rd took the energy to another level. A parade of motorcycles, cars at the Promenarde in Becausejour, and off-road vehicles in Choiseul rumbled across the island, creating an unstoppable wave of excitement that brought out motorsport lovers from every corner of Saint Lucia. This rolling showcase of power and passion was more than just a ride—it was a moving celebration of Independence, unity, and the thrill of the open road.
According to SLMSA Chairman Mr. Terroll Compton, “The Saint Lucia Motor Sports Association once again proved its unwavering dedication to the sport and the success of Saint Lucia’s Independence celebrations. Despite the challenges, we delivered an experience that will be remembered for years to come.”
As the engines cool and the dust settles, one thing is clear—motorsports in Saint Lucia is alive, thriving, and here to stay!
But none of this would have been possible without the incredible support of our sponsors and partners, whose contributions ensured the success of these motorsport activities.
Their unwavering support and dedication to motorsports in Saint Lucia played a vital role in ensuring the success and smooth execution of the SLMSA Independence Day events.
