WASCO: Service Interruption to Undertake Urgent Repairs to Northern Raw Water Pipeline

THE Water and Sewerage Company Inc. (WASCO) wishes to advise its customers in the north of the island to increase their water storage in preparation for an upcoming water service interruption.

On Wednesday, March 5, 2025, WASCO will carry out scheduled maintenance on the 24-inch raw water pipeline that supplies water from the John Compton Dam in Millet. These repairs are necessary to address ongoing issues with our aging infrastructure, which was installed over forty (40) years ago. The interruption will affect residents from Millet to Cap Estate, excluding the Babonneau region.

We acknowledge that unplanned disruptions have occurred in recent weeks, and we understand the inconvenience this has caused. These repairs, however, are critical in resolving these issues. Once completed, consumers should notice a significant improvement in water pressure and frequency of supply.

We strongly urge all residents to store adequate water in advance, as disruptions are expected to last up to 48 hours after repairs. Please note that residents at higher elevations and those farthest from the water system may experience additional delays in the full restoration of service.

These repairs are aimed at reducing future water losses and enhancing the efficiency of water processing at the Theobalds Treatment Plant, leading to a more consistent supply in the future.

WASCO apologizes for the inconvenience and appreciates the public’s understanding as we work toward improving service reliability. Look out for updates on our website and social media platforms.
