The St. Lucia Athletics Association (SLAA) successfully hosted the Independence Games – Field Events on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at the George Odlum Stadium. The event, which began at 10:00 a.m., featured a lineup of over 140 field athletes from various clubs and schools (St. Lucia Sports Academy and St. Joseph’s Convent) on the island competing in field events such as high jump, long jump, shot put, discus and javelin throw.
The meet provided a critical platform for experienced athletes and emerging talent to showcase their skills and deliver performances.
The day was filled with displays of athleticism, determination, and sportsmanship, highlighting a pool of talent in field events.
Focus on Field Events Development in 2025
Recognizing the vital role of field events in strengthening Saint Lucia’s presence on the regional and international athletics stage, the SLAA has identified this area as a critical focus for development in 2025. With plans to expand coaching, training opportunities, and talent identification initiatives, the association is committed to elevating field event standards across the island.
