
The Sir Arthur Lewis Community College (SALCC) decisively defeated Soufriere Comprehensive Secondary School (SCSS) 67-29 to claim the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Under 19 Schoolboys’ Basketball Championship at the Beausejour Indoor Facility last Thursday.
SALCC demonstrated its dominance throughout the game, with scores in each quarter that underscored their control at every stage: 18-10, 32-15, 44-27, and finally 67-29.
Jazzaniah Blanchard led the charge for SALCC, delivering an impressive performance with 21 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 steals. Teammates Shekim Mc Rae (8 points, 4 rebounds, 4 steals), Ethan Desriviere (8 points, 5 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 assist), and Joel Desriviere (6 points, 7 rebounds, 2 steals) made significant contributions with crucial points and strong defensive plays.
Merlik Denis, Daniel Joseph, and Tyler Hubain added 4 points each, further solidifying the team’s victory.
SCSS fought valiantly, with standout performances from Curdin Jones (8 points, 14 rebounds, 4 steals), Shayne Edgar (6 points, 5 rebounds, 5 steals, 2 assists, 1 block), Nathaniel Modeste (6 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals), Micha Alphonse (4 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals), and Alex Longville (2 points, 3 rebounds, 3 steals, 1 assist).
However, SALCC’s strategic prowess and teamwork were simply too overwhelming, securing the trophy without question.
In the semifinals, SALCC demonstrated its superiority by decisively defeating St. Mary’s College (SMC) with a score of 59-30. The quarter scores were a testament to SALCC’s dominance: 15-7, 28-18, 51-24, and 59-30.
Meanwhile, SCSS emerged victorious over Patricia D. James Secondary (PDJSS) with a score of 51-33, showcasing their strength through quarter scores of 19-6, 29-13, 41-24, and 51-33.
