
The Sir Arthur Lewis Community College (SALCC) will face off against the Soufriere Comprehensive Secondary School (SCSS) in the finals of the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Under 19 Schools Basketball Championships after both teams delivered convincing victories in their semi-finals on Tuesday at the Beausejour Indoor Facility (BIF).
In the first semifinal, SALCC defeated St. Mary’s College (SMC) with a commanding score of 59-30. The scores in quarter reflected SALCC’s dominance: 15-7, 28-18, 51-24, and 59-30.
SALCC’s standout performers showcased their talents, including Jazzaniah Blanchard, who tallied 20 points, 10 rebounds, 9 steals, 3 assists, and 1 block. Joel Desrieviere added 16 points, 6 rebounds, 13 steals, 2 assists, and 1 block to the victory. Maliq Denis contributed 6 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 steals, while Ethan Desrieviere chipped in 6 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 steal.
On the SMC side, notable efforts came from Nyel Joseph, who recorded 9 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 steals, Terrell Theobalds with 4 points, 1 rebound, and 1 steal, and Requielmi Pierre added 4 points, 5 rebounds, and 1 steal.
In the second semifinal, SCSS emerged victorious over Patricia D. James Secondary (PDJSS) with a score of 51-33, demonstrating their strength through quarter scores of 19-6, 29-13, 41-24, and 51-33.
Top performers for SCSS included Curdin Jones, who led the way with 20 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals, and 1 block. Michah Alphonse secured a double-double with 12 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 steals. Alex Longville also made significant contributions, scoring 8 points while grabbing 9 rebounds and providing 5 assists. Additionally, Sherquan Celestine and Nevin William both added 4 points each to the team’s total.
PDJSS showcased impressive individual performances, notably Maliq Mitchell with 15 points, 10 rebounds, 8 steals, and 2 assists, Barnett Bledman contributing 5 points, 1 rebound, and 7 steals, Keganthony Prospere with 4 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 steals, and Daniel Martin adding 4 points, 6 rebounds, 1 steal, and 1 block.
