Saint Lucia Cruise Port Launches Scholarship Programme

Saint Lucia Cruise Port continues to prioritize the Saint Lucian public with the introduction of the Saint Lucia Cruise Port Scholarship funded by Global Ports Holding on February 13, 2025. This exciting new venture will provide two Saint Lucian nationals the opportunity to pursue undergraduate degrees at a university of their choice within the United States, Canada, United Kingdom or any University of the West Indies campus.

Mr. Lancelot Arnold Director of GPH Eastern Caribbean and General Manager of Saint Lucia Cruise Port, and Mr. Gasper George Director of Operations and Product Development Eastern Caribbean and General Manager of Antigua Cruise Port were joined by the Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investment, Creative Industries, Culture and Information, Honorable Dr. Ernest Hilaire. Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Tourism Ms Donalyn Vittet, Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Sustainable Development, Innovation, Science, Technology and Vocational Training, Dr Pauline Antoine-Prospere, Ms. Marva Greenidge Properties 1 and Customer Experience Manager Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority and other key government officials were also in attendance.

Dr Hilaire commended Saint Lucia Cruise Port on this initiative and encouraged young people to apply and utilize this opportunity to further their educational ambitions. “Saint Lucia Cruise Port is now allowing Saint Lucian youth access to obtain success in their chosen field of study. This opportunity will allow many to make their dreams a reality.”

Dr. Pauline Antoine-Prospere commented on the importance of providing opportunities like the Saint Lucia Cruise Port Scholarship to the public. “These scholarships will make a world of difference to our students. In our island, we have so many intelligent students who simply require an opportunity to excel.”

Lancelot Arnold, General Manager of Saint Lucia Cruise Port enthused “We are beyond proud to create more opportunities for our young people in Saint Lucia. We at Saint Lucia Cruise Port understand the value of education and are keenly aware of the importance of investing in our future leaders. It is our hope that well-deserving aspiring students can utilize this scholarship to pursue and achieve their goals.”

Mr Arnold further stated, “This scholarship remains in line with the commitment that Saint Lucia Cruise Port and Global Ports Holding has made to the Government of Saint Lucia by investing in the people of the island.”

The Saint Lucia Cruise Port Scholarship will be awarded to two aspiring students per annum and will include the payment of all tuition, airfare, accommodation, books and meal expenses for the duration of their undergraduate studies for a maximum of four years. Applications for the scholarship will open Monday, February 17th, 2025, and close on Wednesday, April 30th, 2025.
