New Venues for Independence Events

.

A venue change has been announced for the island’s Independence celebrations.

According to organisers, the grounds at Mindoo Phillip Park are no longer suitable to host the activities due to saturation from rainfall.

“This decision has been made in the interest of ensuring the safety of all patrons, officers, and participants, as well as preserving the grounds of the sporting facility,” a press release said on Thursday.

The following changes should be noted:

.

– The Military Parade has been relocated to the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground in Gros Islet. This change is to ensure it is executed properly; the comfort and safety of officers were also considered.

The event starts at 10:00 a.m.

– The Independence Celebratory Rally & the Saint Lucia All Stars Showcase, will now take place at the Sab, Vigie Playing Field.

This change ensures the safety and protection of the grounds at the Mindoo Phillip Park, from infrastructural damages. The rally will commence at 1:00 p.m. and the showcase will begin at 4:00 p.m.

“While these changes are necessary due to conditions beyond our control, we would like to reassure the public that the same level of energy, and celebration will be brought to all the relocated venues. The Military Parade, along with the Independence Celebratory Rally and the Saint Lucia All-Stars concert, will continue to showcase the spirit of our people. We look forward to celebrating our 46th Independence Anniversary with the people of Saint Lucia and we encourage all to join us at the newly designated venues,” the press release added.
