CSS and CCSS Athletes Deliver Outstanding Performances In Inter-House Meets

This week, athletes displayed  their skills at the Choiseul Secondary School annual sports meet, held at the Soufriere Mini Stadium.

On Thursday, Jean House decisively retained the title of ‘Top House,’ finishing strong with 885 points. King secured second place with 810 points, Michel took third with 797 points, and Darcheville rounded out the standings with 510 points.

The standout performances included:

Div 4:

– Christiano Nestor: gold in shot put and long jump, silver in 150m, and bronze in 80m.

– Karen Joseph: gold in 300m, silver in 150m, and shot put. Div 3:

– Kerlan Daniel: two golds in shot put and discus.

– Sera Bertin: gold in 200m and long jump.

Div 2:

– Rishawn Prospere: gold in 800m and 1500m.

– Richie Albert: gold in shot put and discus, bronze in javelin.

The Saint Lucia Athletic Association (SLAA) Juvenile Athlete of the Year, Jady Emmanuel, dominated the 100 and 200 meters, winning gold medals in both events. Ria Francis also excelled, bringing home gold in the 800m and javelin, along with a bronze in the long jump.

Athletes from Castries Comprehensive Secondary School (CCSS) gathered at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground for their annual Inter House Sports Meet on February 13.

Competing across Under 14, 16, and 19 age categories, they tackled events from 80 meters to 1500 meters, along with exhilarating relay races. The competition was fierce, with each house fighting for victory and offering unwavering support to their teams.

When the points were counted, Oriole  House emerged as the champions with an impressive total of 618 points. Finch House followed closely with 608 points at second place. Heron House took third place with 548 points, while Amazona House finished fourth with 511 points.

Winners  were as follows:

Under 14:

– Victrix Ludorum – Sheba Jn Pierre (Oriole).

– Victor Ludorum – Liam Sonny (Heron).

Under 16:

– Victrix Ludorum – Aria Anatole (Amazona).

– Victor Ludorum – Dwarnne Cummings (Amazona). Under 19: – Victrix Ludorum – Killian Laurencin (Finch).

– Victor Ludorum – Johran Phillip (Amazona).

With the Island Champs qualifiers set for March 18-20 and finals on March 23, the students are eagerly anticipating their call-up from coaches to represent CCSS in this year’s championship. They are determined to continue their winning streak and bring pride to their school.
