Independence Day celebrations, this past Saturday, were truly enjoyable, however a motorcycle event the following day in Vieux Fort in which a motorcyclist ploughed into spectators injuring several individuals including a four-year-old boy and an eight-year-old girl marred the weekend of celebrations that marked Saint Lucia’s 46th Independence Day Anniversary.

Independence weekend was a time for Saint Lucians to reflect on their past, celebrate their achievements and renew their commitment to developing their country in positive ways.

But it was also a time for fun and Saint Lucians had fun as they enjoyed the variety of events and activities which dominated this year’s celebrations.

From music concerts to military parades to sporting activities and other undertakings, the colours of Saint Lucia and its flag flew high from the country’s hinterland to its heartland.

This pictorial is our attempt at relaying a small part of the action and joy which took place primarily on Independence Day. We thank Events Saint Lucia, for allowing us to use some of their photos.
