ON Sunday, December 22, the Desruisseaux Football League/Lave’-sponsored Knockout football competition reached its climax with a fiercely contested Championship title match at the Desruisseaux Playing Field. 

El Ninos emerged victorious, decisively overcoming Desruisseaux United in an electrifying showdown that culminated in a dramatic penalty shootout.

After trailing 2-1 at halftime, El Ninos executed a brilliant comeback, securing the equalizer and forcing the match into penalties following a thrilling 2-2 draw. They clinched the shootout 4-3, showcasing their resilience and skill under pressure.

Asa Francis scored two goals for Desruisseaux United, while Joseph Mangal also notched a brace for El Ninos.

In the Third Place Play-Off, Green Monsters dominated Ti Rocher FC with a commanding 4-0 victory, with two goals from Eldon Wilson, along with contributions from Cjay Marquis and Anslem Anthony.

On December 13, Monarch Sports Club showcased their prowess in the Hon. Shawn Edward Football Competition, defeating Chesters Sports Club 4-2 in a penalty shootout after a hard-fought goalless draw at the La Ressource Playing Field.

In the Third-Place playoff, Aux Lyons Utd triumphed over Togetherness Youth with a 2-0 victory, courtesy of goals from Robert Lawrence in the 43rd minute and tournament’s top scorer Nilbert Jn. Louis.

During the post-match presentation, the following awards were distributed:

Most Goals:  Nilbert Jn. Louis from Aux Lyons Utd with 7 goals Best Goalkeeper: Daisy’s Joseph from Chesters Sports Club

MVP of Finals: Leranus Lewis, Goalkeeper of Monarch Sports Club, for his outstanding performance in the penalty shootout, saving one crucial penalty.

MVP of Tournament: Terrol Norville, Captain of Monarch Sports Club.

Meanwhile, matches in the SLFA Inc. Senior Women’s Football Competition continued with intensity. On Wednesday, December 18, at the Anse La Raye Playing Field, the Canaries and Central Castries battled to a goalless draw. Anse La Raye, after falling behind 2-0 to Vieux Fort South at halftime, displayed remarkable tenacity, fighting back to secure an exhilarating 3-3 draw.

Clowie William emerged as the standout player, netting a hat trick with goals in the 41st, 45th, and 59th minutes. For Vieux Fort South, Kirsheema Ince opened the scoring in the 12th minute, followed by Sage Lionel in the 29th minute and Freegeanne Joseph with a penalty in the 50th minute.

Additionally, the SLFA Inc. Women’s Football Competition continued on December 16 at the Dennery Playing Field. Vieux Fort South convincingly defeated Central Castries 2-0, with goals from Giana Hilton in the 18th minute and Ernasha Nanton in the 50th minute.

In another game, the Canaries team exhibited their dominance by overpowering Anse La Raye 8-1, with notable performances including braces from Harmanie Jones (23rd & 60th minutes) and Theonoa Auguste (44th & 45th minutes), along with contributions from Steffany Allain (18th), Racquel John (34th), Marissa Duncan (56th), and Kylah Solomon (3rd minute of added time).

Trenice St. Croix managed to secure a consolation goal for Anse La Raye in the 31st minute, but it was clear that Canaries had established their superiority on the field.
