Team St Lucia Represented at St Vincent’s 45th Independence Celebrations

The St Lucia Motor Sports Association (SLMSA) in partnership with Alternative Sports and with the assistance of Knuckle Headzs Bike Club, organized a three-member team in the persons of Mr. Brian Evans (Alternative Sports Personality of the year 2023 Sports Award), Mr. Glenton Evans, (team manager, racer and SLMSA representative) and racer Mc Grath “Quincy” Placide.

The team left the island on Thursday, October 25th, and returned Tuesday, October 29th. Reports reaching the SLMSA indicated that all went well and that Team St. Lucia wasted no time in fine turning for Sunday and Monday’s grand finale. On Friday, the team, along with other racers from Grenada, Antigua, and host country St. Vincent, verged at The St. Vincent Community College where the vehicles were on display, adding to the excitement of the hundreds of students and visitors expected to be present at ET Joshua Tarmac on Sunday and Monday.

Team St Lucia did very well in the qualifying rounds but was only able to capture two 3rd place podium finishes, Glenton Evans with his Mazda RX-8, in the 2wd category and Brian Evans with his Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 6, in the 4WD category. Mc Grath “Quincy” Placide remained undefeated in the grudge matches while Brian Evans had the fastest lap time.

Also present at St. Vincent 45 Independence activities were the St. Lucia Auto Sound Club (SLASC), with a deafening performance at “The Clash of Islands 2024 Auto Sound Competition.” Chief among the performers were Chris Jn Baptiste, Migel Aubert, Jed Henry, Andre Joseph, Dwayne Joseph and Nyaim James. Everyone gave a great account with Dwayne Joseph placing 3rd overall and Nyaim James grabbing 1st place, making him 5th in the Caribbean, with Trinidad and Guadeloupe holding on to 1st,2nd 3rd and 4th places respectively for now.

Chairman Terroll Compton of the St. Lucia Motor Sports Association (SLMSA) and Mr. Craig Gustave of Alternative Sports are very pleased with the performances of our local teams and look forward to more of the same in December 2024 and February 2025.
