FIVE individuals were arrested by police following a joint operation by the Northern and Central Divisions of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) on Saturday, October 19, 2024.
Police officers from the Bicycle Patrol Team, Special Operations Team, Traffic Enforcement Team, Criminal Investigations Department, and Special Services Unit participated in the operation and carried out five search warrants in the areas of La Clery, Marchand Boulevard, and La Guerre, Babonneau. Five people were taken into custody at the end for a variety of criminal offences.
A large amount of cocaine was found at a house in La Clery, Castries, where a search warrant was issued. Following the discovery, Jamaican national Shannick Alex Collins was taken into custody, along with Kenya Walter of Bois Patat, Castries, and Rickie Raynald of La Clery, Castries. Cocaine possession, crack cocaine possession, and possession with intent to provide were the charges that followed. Immigration offences were also brought against Shannick Alex Collins.
Two people were arrested in connection with drug-related offences and a robbery inquiry as a result of the operation’s ongoing drills in the areas of La Guerre, Babonneau, and Marchand. After these people’s charging procedures are finished, an update will be sent.
According to the RSLPF the intricate operation was designed to disrupt and capture criminals. Significant arrests and drug seizures were the outcome of the concerted operations. The intelligence-driven initiatives align with Commissioner Garde’s responsibility to address crime through a multifaceted strategy. In order to eliminate criminal elements and eventually make Saint Lucia a safer place for everyone, the public can continue to anticipate greater policing activities.
