Crisis Centre Holds 3-Day Workshops

The St. Lucia Crisis Centre (SLCC) is hosting a series of 3 day workshops  sponsored by the French Embassy and Unite Caribbean geared towards educating and raising awareness amongst male individuals accused of Gender Based Violence and the consequences associated with such behaviours.

A total of 15 inmates benefitted in a very successful residential workshop at the Bordelais Correctional Facility and certificates of participation were awarded to the inmates. The then Director of the Bordelais Correctional Facility, Mr. Verne Garde delivered the feature address amplifying the importance of collaboration across all sectors to strengthen the approach to ending Gender Based Violence.

The second in the series of 3 day workshops will be held from Tuesday 8th October to Thursday October 10th 2024 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Alliance Francaise Conference Room.

The Facilitators will avail themselves to participants to convey hope in working to achieve a positive change.

The Organization of American States (OAS) St. Lucia Office will represent the Mechanism of the Inter-American Convention to Prevent, Punish and Eradicate Violence Against Women (MESECVI) by Mrs. Rumelia Dalphinis-King, Alternate Expert of St. Lucia (MESECVI) and Your Excellency Lady Lily Ching-Soto will deliver remarks to the participants.

More so, St. Lucia Crisis Centre is cognizant of the fact that in curbing the problem of Gender Based Violence (GBV) its programming must encompass support for perpetrators of Gender Based Violence.
