Construction of an amphitheater at Serenity Park in Sans Soucis is set to begin this week with an expected completion date by Christmas this year.
The amphitheater will feature a covered stage for various performances, three vending booths, and potential partnerships with popular fast-food franchises. “The amphitheater will have a covered stage for performances, including theatrical and arts events, and there will also be three vending booths,” said Richard Frederick, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Castries Central at a pre-cabinet press briefing on Monday.
The park will be officially renamed to its original title, Serenity Park, after the completion of the amphitheater and concessionaire booths. Frederick noted that the renaming process involved significant input from local schools, where students participated in a competition to select the name. He expressed his dissatisfaction with the political decision to add Sir William George Mallet to the park’s title, hoping to revert to the original name once the new facilities are completed.
Richard Frederick said that the construction of an amphitheater has long been a dream project of his.
During his previous term from 2006 to 2011, Frederick played a key role in establishing Serenity Park. Now, in his second term, he is determined to enhance the park with new amenities.
Frederick also mentioned that the installation of parking meters in the city is underway and will be operational soon. The personnel responsible for operating these devices are currently undergoing training, and once completed, the parking meter system is expected to resolve related issues.
