On the heels of her recent silver medal performance at the Women’s 100m at the Diamond League Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon on May 25, Alfred was again in fine form and this time upped the tempo to tear away from the pack and place first.

Alfred not only ran  her personal best time of 10.78 seconds but also in a national record-breaking time and meet record.

The 22-year-old is the current World Indoor 60-meter Champion and her current form has been inspiring as she builds up to this year’s Summer Olympics in the French capital Paris.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports  has extended hearty congratulations to Alfred. In an online post, the Ministry stated, “Congratulations in order once again for Saint Lucian Sprint Queen Julien Alfred having claimed the 100-meter victory at the 2024 Racer’s Grand Prix in Jamaica on Saturday, June 1.”

Earlier this year, in March, an international quartet (Dina Asher-Smith, Rhasidat Adeleke, Lanae-Tava Thomas and Julien Alfred) combined to clock a 1:27.05 4x200m at the Texas Relays in Austin on Saturday 30.

Britain’s 2019 World Champion Asher-Smith ran the first leg before handing the baton to Ireland’s Adeleke. Jamaica’s Thomas took on the third leg and then Saint Lucia’s World Indoor 60m Champion Alfred ran the anchor, her split time reported as 20.8.

While the mark cannot count as a world record as the athletes represent different nations, their 1:27.05 is faster than the world record of 1:27.46 set by USA in 2000.

They returned four hours later to win the invitational 4x400m in 3:25.31.
