Minister Virginia Albert-Poyotte is no longer responsible for the Department of Home Affairs. That department has now been elevated to that of a ministry headed by Micoud North Parliamentarian Jeremiah Norbert.

The Department of Home Affairs is now officially the Ministry of Home Affairs, Crime Prevention, and Persons with Disabilities, according to the May 21, 2024 issue of the Saint Lucia Gazette.

Minister Norbert’s portfolio includes responsibilities within the Office of the Prime Minister, specifically overseeing Home Affairs, Crime Prevention, and Persons with Disabilities.

Mr Norbert will have oversight of several critical services, including the Saint Lucia Fire Service, the Bordelais Correctional Facility (BCF), Probation and Parole Services, and Citizenship and Youth Delinquency Services. The Head Office of the Ministry remains at No. 5 Mongiraud Street in Castries, and can be reached by phone at 468-3600 or via email at [email protected].

Minister Norbert, in his inaugural address, expressed gratitude to former Minister for Home Affairs, Dr. Virginia Albert-Poyotte, for her dedicated work over the past three years. He acknowledged the foundation she had laid and looks forward to building upon it.
