District 5 came out with all guns blazing to defeat District 8 in the finals of the Inter-District Primary School 9 a-side football competition organised by the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports in collaboration with the Saint Lucia Football Association [SLFA] Inc.
Last year’s losing finalists, District 5 gained sweet revenge over their rivals with a hard-fought 1-0 victory.
District 5 took the lead in the 8’ minute through Anja Polius. The powerful forward used his quick pace to beat the defense and drive his effort over the reach of the District 8 goalkeeper, and his team held on firmly to the advantage to seal victory.
In the play off for third place District 4 defeated District 1 one goal to nil, compliments a strike from Kernell Louis in the 15’.
At the post-match Awards Presentation, the following were awarded:
– Individual Team MVPs: District 1 – Shem Ismael, District 2 – Rueben Harris, District 3 – Amani Griffith, District 4 – Keddanie Plante, District 5 – Leon Vidal, District 6 – Isaiah Donnelly, District 7 – Jermain Toussaint and District 8 – Lyon Griffith.
Most Goals – Baijan Charles (District 6 – with 5).
Best Goalkeeper – Javie Polius (District 5).
MVP of the Finals – Anaj Polius (District 5).
1st place – Champion Team – District 5. Championship trophy and gold medals.
2nd Place – District 8 – Trophy and silver medals.
3rd Place team – District 4 – Trophy and bronze medals.
