THE William Peter Boulevard and Constitution Park were buzzing with excitement yesterday with the opening of the National Business Exposition, which saw almost 150 local businesses displaying their products.

The exposition, which continues today, has been a hit with visitors and locals alike. Dubbed an ‘Independence Village’, the event was organized by the Government of Saint Lucia with full support from Export Saint Lucia, the Ministry of Commerce, Events Saint Lucia and the Independence Standing Committee.

The Independence Village featured an array of items including handbags, jewellery, as well as a number of tasty food dishes. A number of colourful displays and live entertainment transformed the atmosphere.

This year’s event also attracted more vendors; last year nearly 80 vendors participated.

As one vendor Jenneivi Augustin from Adéllee Bags said, “we get exposure, we might not get sales on the day” but the exposure goes a long way.

“It’s one of the reasons why I participate. People can take your contact information and get in touch with you at a later date. It’s rewarding and I am anticipating great things,” Augustin said.
