Team Saint Lucia performed favourably to finish as finalists in the International Special Olympics Football competition, which concluded, last Saturday (June 24), in Germany.
Playing with a 10-man side after Jason Jarvis got a red card in the 15th minute, Saint Lucia went down to India 2-1. Neville Darcy scored for Team 758.
Earlier, in the preliminary rounds of the competition, Saint Lucia and India drew 2 – 2; with Seannilius and Krishon Pierre scoring for Lucia.
Despite the finals’ loss, the coaching staff of Denis Didier and Chris Charlery commended the satisfactory performance of the players throughout the competition.
Team 758’s leading goal scorers were Seannilius, Pierre, Krishon Pierre, Neville Darcy and Winston Joseph with two goals each.
However, the coaches singled out Neville Darcy, Jason Jarvis, Jean Paul Isidore and Winston Joseph for their consistency throughout the competition.
