La Clery Moves Closer to lead position in SLFA Premier League Competition

La Clery Tuesday moved closer to consolidating their position at the top of the Island Cup Premier League table when they got past Gros Islet 3-0, at the Desruisseaux Playing Field, to secure a comfortable victory.

Scoring for La Clery were Jonathan Aliene. Romiel Felix and Malik St. Prix.

In a latter match, home team Desruisseaux edged out Mabouya Valley 3 – 2, to emerge winners in a tightly contested encounter.

Desruisseaux goal scorers were Merkiah Wells, Ahmed Francis and Glendon Ferdinand in the 2nd, 21st and 58th minutes respectively; while Maius Stanislaus, and Leaus Alphonse netted for Mabouya Valley in the 18th and 85th minutes.

At the Soufriere Mini Stadium, Vieux Fort North gained a stunning 5 – 2 victory over Vieux South.

V-Fort North got their goals from Luesta Mitchel 8th minute, Bradley Fannis 25th minute, Devan Obrien 55th minute, Curtley Johnny a penalty in the 69th minute and Stephan Felix in the 89th minute of play.

Scoring for V-Fort South were Saviola Elva and Jadel Lionel a penalty in the 3rd minute of added on time.

In another game, a rejuvenated Central Castries held Canaries to a goalless draw.

Meanwhile, the St Lucia Football Association [SLFA] Inc. holds its 36th Congress, today (Saturday 4th February), at the Bay Garden Hotel.

According to an SLFA spokesperson, some pertinent issues are on the agenda to be discussed.

Notably, two of the main items down are – the SLFA Inc. position with regards to the status of the Marchand Football League [MFL] and the election of an executive to run the affairs of the SLFA for the next four years.
