Youth & Sports in Heavy Focus at CIBC FirstCaribbean

CIBC First Caribbean Bank has earmarked a little under $10,000 has been earmarked for youth related interventions this quarter. Amidst the backdrop of rising youth related crime, Rise St. Lucia Inc continues its interventions to reach and engage the nation’s youth both within and out of the school system. Youth and education are also areas of focus for the Rising Stars Youth & Sports Club. The two organisations found ready partnership support from CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank towards the end of October to advance projects aimed at reducing deviancy and crime.

CIBC FirstCaribbean donated $1,500 towards transportation to ensure islandwide reach for Rise Saint Lucia’s crime prevention programme at Secondary schools in October. The ongoing programme seeks to equip students with the tools to resolve conflicts and de-escalate tensions which can otherwise subvert the course of their future and that of their peers.

Support to the Rising Stars Youth & Sports Club in the amount of $2,000 went towards the acquisition of educational resources for a community after school programme and the purchase of a computer for a computer skills and career enhancement initiative. The 75-member grouping is based in Palmiste Soufriere. Their mandate is to contribute to community development by creating avenues for participation in sports, culture and education.

The bank has also pledged its commitment as a major partner for the OECS Aquatic Championships being hosted by the Saint Lucia Aquatic Federation from November 11th -13th and as a sponsor of the Ministry of Education’s District Six Inter Primary Schools Road Race, slated for November 23rd.

The Ti Rocher Primary School also received support in the amount of $1,500 towards painting motivational murals on the school premises.

The Dugard R.C Combined School and the Patricia D James Secondary School also received donations to cover costs associated with the hosting of their 2022 graduation exercises.
