The St. Lucia Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture- Project Sponsor for Junior Achievement (JA) St. Lucia is aware of the recent article circulated in the media regarding the dismissal of JA St. Lucia from JA Worldwide Inc. Regrettably, the Board of the St. Lucia Chamber of Commerce confirms this statement as factual.

Over the last two decades, JA St. Lucia has established a legacy of youth development through entrepreneurship, mentoring and social enterprise, operating in 20 secondary schools, including vocational and over 60 primary schools island wide, involving approximately 4000 students. Despite these accomplishments, the last two years have posed significant challenges which have adversely affected the momentum, participation and operation of the local chapter; most notably the pandemic and other exogenous shocks which have resulted in the current state of affairs.

The Board and executive management agree that this situation is most unfortunate and is currently undertaking the required remedial steps to restore our status with the International Governing body by way of tactically addressing the current operational, financial, governance and most importantly relationship challenges currently being experienced.

President of the St Lucia Chamber of Commerce Mr Trevor Louisy stated “We wish to unequivocally affirm the Chamber’s commitment to re-establishing a sustainable environment for JA St Lucia to execute its, mission, which is to educate and inspire young people to value free enterprise, business and economics, to improve the quality of their lives in a reasonable amount of time.”
