Ras Ipa Returns Unopposed as Head of Vendors Association

Members of the Saint Lucia Craft and Dry Goods Vendors Association last Sunday re-elected Peter Isaac, aka ‘Ras Ipa’, unopposed to the position of President, effectively crushing calls for him to be replaced at the helm of the Association.

Isaac, who has been the most vocal of voices on behalf of Castries vendors over the years and who has been president for just as many years, has had several challenges to his position as those opposed to his leadership of the Association attempted to dethrone him.

The build-up to last Sunday’s 30th Bi-Annual General Meeting saw calls for Isaac to abstain from seeking reelection, all of which he ignored. Just after five Sunday afternoon, with personnel from the Electoral Office having already set up their equipment for a fair and transparent voting process, a noise erupted from the headquarters of the Saint Lucia Industrial and Small Business Association (SLISBA), where the meeting was being held, that signaled Isaac’s return to the president’s post unopposed.

The new executive of the Saint Lucia Craft and Dry Goods Vendors Association area as follows: Peter Isaac – President, Mrs. Paula Thomas – Vice President, Christin King – Secretary, Nicole Joseph – Assistant Secretary, Jasmine Sylvia Valcin-Calderon – Treasurer, Carolina Justin – Public Relations Officer  and Charmine Emmanuel, Thelma Jn Baptiste, Sharon St Romaine as Trustees.
