The Sir Arthur Lewis Community College will partner with a Youth Movement in Guadeloupe in a project which is geared to promote cooperation and sustainable development in the region. The official launch of the Carib’ Excellence project takes place on Friday May 20, 2022. The launch which will be held virtually between the parties in Guadeloupe and St. Lucia will see the signing of an agreement and presentations on the areas of cooperation.
Carib Excellence, jointly created by CO.RE.CA. (Caribbean Contacts and Research) of Guadeloupe through its Youth Movement (MJC) and the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College is funded by the Regional Council of Guadeloupe as part of the call for projects “I cooperate with an OECS country”.
Carib’ Excellence is a project designed to meet Guadeloupe’s need for integration into the OECS. It will help to make Guadeloupe known to other countries of the Eastern Caribbean and to make Guadeloupeans aware of the leading figures and initiatives undertaken in the neighboring islands.
Carib’ Excellence includes three core actions implemented over thirteen months:
1. The implementation of the Coop’École concept to teach young Caribbean people the meaning and challenges of cooperation through eight short videos.
2. The Caribbean Education and Appreciation (CEA) contest to promote the academic work of young Caribbean people through an academic competition and the creation of an online library.
3. The implementation of the Caribbean WOL concept to capitalize on the good practices of our territories regarding the environment and sustainable development by broadcasting testimonial videos.
At least eight students from the Media and Communications programme at the College are expected to participate and benefit from the training and exposure received. The project is expected to run till June 2023.
