Tristan Dorville Wins Gold at CARIFTA


SAINT Lucian junior swimmer Tristan Dorville lived up to expectations with an impressive showing at this year’s CARIFTA Swim Championships, held in Barbados.

Coming on the heels of his record breaking performance at the recently held Rodney Heights Aquatic Centre- RHAC Invitational (April 6 to 9),  Dorville upped his game at the regional tournament with a haul of seven medals, which includes two gold, three silver and two  bronze medals on day three of the competition.

The results for day four (April 19) were not yet in when we went to press yesterday.

On Day 2 of the event, having competed in four of five finals, the 14-year-old  Sea Jays Swim Club athlete put on another impressive showing to lead the charge for Team 758 .

During an energetic Easter holiday-weekend, with regional athletes on show in different genres of sport, Tristan stood out amongst the star performers in competition.

On Day 3 (April, 18) Tristan secured one gold and one silver medal, to add to his tally.

Boys 13-14 200 Meter IM –

Macpherson Lewison, of Jamaica copped gold in a time of 2:18.33, with Tristan Dorville taking the next spot in a time of 2:19.10, while Carrington Liam, T&T finished third with a time of 2: 20.89.

Boys 13-14 100 Meter Free –

Tristan Dorville, Tristan – LCA – 54.81

Zachary Anthony, Zachary – T&T – 54.94

Caleb Ferguson, Caleb – BAH – 55.33

The CARIFTA Swim Champs was held from April 16 to 19 in Barbados.
