Residents of the Jacmel community again had to take cover in their homes as the sound of gunfire pierced through the quiet night.
Reports show one man is now at the hospital in critical condition after unknown assailants shot him multiple times. The vitctim, who has not yet been identified by law enforcement was believed to have been fired upon at around 9 p.m.
According to one resident who admitted to being startled after hearing the gunfire, “it is becoming all too common now in the community and Saint Lucia. These criminals believe they are untouchable and can shoot anywhere and anytime.”
Residents from the community and environments admitted to having a phobia of being outside after dawn. “We rush home from work just to not be on the streets in case they attack and miss their target,” one woman said.
Residents are calling for drastic measures from the authorities to arrest the out-of-control gun violence situation on the island.
