Saint Lucia’s visitor arrivals has received a boost with the return of Sunwing Airlines from Toronto Canada. SWG116 touched down at the Hewanorra International Airport on Saturday January 22nd, 2022, signaling the final international airline to resume operation amid the pandemic.
It was late Saturday afternoon when the leisure carrier Sunwing Airlines touched down at the Hewanorra International Airport in Vieux-Fort. It was returning after an absence of almost two years.
The resumption of flights from Canada was a huge relief for Saint Lucia including the Saint Lucia Hospitality and Tourism Association.
The return of Sunwing Airlines from Toronto was made possible through the commitment and assurances from Saint Lucia that visitor safety and wellbeing was paramount as the Covid-19 pandemic continues to impact the globe.
Canada is the fourth largest source market for Saint Lucia. Tourism and marketing officials are working on improving the numbers from Canada. Forty thousand Canadians experienced the island’s hospitality and beauty in 2019.
