Saint Lucia Records 19 New Cases of COVID-19

PRESS RELEASE — The Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs today Friday, October 29, 2021, confirms a total nineteen (19) new cases of COVID-19. These cases were processed on Thursday, October 28 2021 at the Ezra Long Laboratory from a total of 238 samples which were collected between October 27 and October 28, 2021. This number of positive cases makes up 8% of all the samples processed on that date. These new cases bring the total number of cases diagnosed in- country to date to 12, 536.

The Ministry of Health also reports one (1) new COVID-19 death. This death occurred on October 14, 2021. To date, the total number of COVID-19 deaths in-country is 193 and the total number of COVID-19 related deaths is 61.

COVID-19 death #193 is a 58 year old male from the Gros-Islet district. The Ministry of Health extends condolences to the bereaved family, friends and loved ones of this individual.

Confirmation was also received of the recovery of 10 individuals diagnosed with COVID-19. This brings the number of active cases in-country to 346. Currently, one (1) individual is critically ill and seven (7) others are severely ill at the Respiratory Hospital.

To date, a total of 36,720 individuals have received the first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine and 31,888 have received the second dose. A total of 14, 206 individuals have received the first dose and 9, 302 individuals have received the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine.

Vaccinations will continue tomorrow Friday, October 29, 2021 at the Vigie Sports Complex, Soufriere Hospital, Laborie Wellness Center, Vieux Fort RC Parish Hall, Babonneau Multi-purpose Center and the CSA Center at Sans Souci in Castries. Vaccinations are scheduled for distribution at all sites from 9 am to 5 pm.
