LOCAL Government Minister Hon. Richard Frederick and the incoming Mayor of Castries, Her Worship Geraldine Lendor-Gabriel has pledged to work closely to provide transformative change to the Castries Constituencies Council (CCC) and the City of Castries.
The pronouncement was made last week Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at a press conference to introduce the incoming Mayor.
Frederick told reporters that Gabriel will harness the capacity of people, to transform them and continually improve them and are all part of a grandiose appetite to make Castries a better place for every Saint Lucian.
“I know we will work together Madame Mayor; she can lean on me because I will surely lean on you. Together, with all members at the Castries City Council, with all team players, with everyone onboard we will make it happen for the benefit and betterment of all persons,” Frederick said.
Her Worship Geraldine Lendor-Gabriel stated that in moving forward one needs to recognize that the Council is grounded in the boundaries of transformation.
“It needs to be grounded within the context of what exists internationally. Communities and small businesses need to be engaged to take advantage of all opportunities”.
In addition, Mayor Lendor-Gabriel also spoke to the level of assistance which can be acquired through strengthened relations with local, regional and international stakeholders. The new Mayor believes that funding can be sourced through outside grants to realize the vision of the council.
She said this remains a very critical driving force in the developmental agenda and progression of the council.
Outgoing Mayor, Peterson D. Francis expressed gratitude to the public and business community for their support when he was mayor. He said much had been achieved while he was mayor but there was a lot more to be accomplished.
Both Frederick and Gabriel met with members of staff to speak of the new vision and direction of the Council.
