PRESS RELEASE — The Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs today Thursday September 23, 2021 confirms a total of 109 new cases of COVID-19. These cases were processed on Wednesday September 22, 2021 at the Ezra Long Laboratory from a total of 454 samples. This number of positive cases makes up 24.0% of all the samples processed on that date. These new cases bring the total number of cases diagnosed in country to date to 10, 961.
The Ministry of Health also reports twelve new COVID-19 deaths. All of these deaths occurred during the period September 5, 2021 to September 20, 2021. To date, the total number of COVID-19 deaths in country is 138 and the total number of COVID-19 related deaths is 43.
COVID-19 death #127 is a 36 year old male from the Vieux-Fort district. COVID-19 death #128 is a 69 year old male from the Castries district. COVID-19 death #129 is a 94 year old male from the Castries district. COVID-19 death #130 is a 61 year old female from the VieuxFort district. COVID-19 death #131 is a 42 year old male from the Vieux-Fort district. COVID19 death #132 is a 66 year old male from the Babonneau district. COVID-19 death #133 is a 75 year old male from the Vieux-Fort district. COVID-19 death #134 is a 67 year old male from the Vieux-Fort district. COVID-19 death #135 is a 74 year old female from the Vieux-Fort district. COVID-19 death #136 is a 35 year old male from the Laborie district. COVID-19 death #137 is a 78 year old male from the Anse La Raye district. COVID-19 death #138 is a 71 year old female from the Castries district. The Ministry of Health extends sympathizes to the families, friends and loved ones of all of these individuals.
Confirmation was also received of the recovery of 159 individuals diagnosed with COVID-19. This brings the number of active cases in country to date to 2178. Three of these active cases are currently critical and nine of them are severely ill at the Respiratory Hospital.
To date, a total of 35, 695 individuals have received the first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine and 29, 229 have received the second dose. A total of 8, 597 individuals have received the first dose and 971 individuals have received the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine.
Tomorrow Friday, September 24, 2021 the vaccine will be given at the Gros-Islet Human Resource Centre, Inno Care on Clarke Street in Vieux-Fort, Jacmel Wellness Centre, Soufriere Hospital and St. Anthony’s Medical Centre in Sunny Acres from 9am to 4pm.
