Saint Lucia shows off its Cabinet of Ministers

Saint Lucians on Thursday, July 5th, 2021, witnessed the official swearing-in ceremony of the new Cabinet of Ministers at the Parliament Building in Castries.

The cabinet of ministers include:

Prime Minister, Hon. Philip J. Pierre Minister for Finance, Economic Development and the Youth Economy.

Hon. Dr. Ernest Hilaire Minister for Tourism, Investment, Creative Industries, Culture and Information.

Hon. Moses Jn. Baptiste – Minister for Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs.

Hon. Shawn A. Edward – Minister for Education, Sustainable Development, Innovation, Science, Technology and Vocational Training.

Hon. Alva Romanus Baptiste – Minister for External Affairs, International Trade, Civil Aviation and Diaspora Affairs.

Hon. Stephenson King who ran as an independent candidate will assume the role of Senior Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Ports, Transport, Physical Development and Urban Renewal.

Hon. Emma Hippolyte – Minister for Commerce, Manufacturing, Business Development, Cooperatives and Consumer Affairs.

Hon. Joachim Andre Henry – Minister for Equity, Social Justice and Empowerment.

Hon. Dr. Virginia Albert-Poyotte – Minister for the Public Service, Home Affairs, Labour and Gender Affairs.

Hon. Kenson Joel Casimir – Minister for Youth Development and Sports.

Hon. Alfred P. Prospere – Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Rural Development.

Hon. Wayne D. Girard – Minister in the Ministry of Finance, Economic Development and Youth Economy.

Hon. Richard Frederick who ran as an independent labour candidate will be a Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister with responsibility for Housing and Local Government.

The Parliamentary Secretaries areĀ Hon. Dr. Pauline Antoine-Prospere, Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Sustainable Development, Innovation, Science, Technology and Vocational Training and Hon. Guibion Ferdinand and Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism, Investment, Creative Industries, Culture and Information.

Hon. Dr. Kenny D. Anthony agreed not to immediately assume a role in the Government citing health and legal obligations while Hon. Jeremiah Norbert will assume the roll of Deputy Speaker.

According to the Prime Minister who took Norbert’s academic studies into consideration when assigning the portfolio informed that the candidate who captured a historic seat for the Labour party will have his position reviewed in the near future.
