LEADER of the Opposition and Parliamentary Representative for Castries East, Philip J. Pierre, has announced plans to rename the Entrepot Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC), The Romanus Lansiquot Human Resource Development Centre.
Speaking recently on the radio programme “That Makes Me Mad” on the local station Helen100 FM, he disclosed that the renaming would be to commemorate the work of the late UWP Parliamentary Representative who served the people of Castries East from 1982-1997.
Pierre recounted that the HRDC was a dream of Mr. Lansiquot who had embarked on a fundraising activity with the Marchand Women’s League when he did not receive support for the building from his Government.
The soon to be named Romanus Lansiquot HRDC was built in 2001 under the Saint Lucia Labour Party with a grant from the European Union as part of Hon. Pierre’s vision to develop the human capital of his constituents. This building serves as a hub for community gatherings, workshops, competitions, quizzes and a host of other developmental and recreational activities. Hon. Philip J. Pierre believes in investing in people and continues to put them first.
