UWP Commends Government on the Vieux Fort Water Supply Redevelopment Project

The United workers party commends the government of Saint Lucia in implementing the Vieux Fort water supply Development project, a much-needed project in the south of the island.

The party notes there was a long gestation period since the comprehensive water supply system study was conducted in 2013, to the signing of the loan in 2015.

Once again, it took a UWP government to begin implementation of this critical project and having the vision to revise the scope of this project to include:

Two water treatments plants at Grace and Beausejour
Additional water storage tanks at Beausejour
Additional pipelines to Laborie
Watershed protection

It is notable this project will cost an estimated $84 million dollars in the south of the Island, which is creating hundreds of jobs for small contractors, construction workers, truckers, and food vendors, among others. The mission of the United Workers Party has always been to create opportunities for the people of St. Lucia.

We commend Hon. Ezekiel Joseph and his team at WASCO for this much-needed boost of economic activity in the south.
