BiP is Calling All Young Digital Designers

PRESS RELEASE — Castries, St. Lucia (5th February, 2021) – BiP is calling out all young digital designers to ideate and create the new mascot. The instant messaging (and so much more) communications service was first released in 2013, but was only introduced to the Caribbean, Central America and the Pacific by Digicel in 2019. Since then, BiP has helped keep people connected through instant messaging and voice and video calling.

Tari Lovell, Head of Marketing – Digital Services said: “We’re calling all young digital designers and offering them the chance to win US$10,000 by designing our 3D mascot! We know it’s been a tough time for so many, and a lot of creative budgets and jobs have been cut. So instead of looking for an agency or doing this work ourselves internally, we wanted to give this opportunity to someone young and talented who gets exactly what the BiP brand is all about.”

From February 1 to March 12, the competition is open to designers aged 14-29 years old who can create a 3D mascot for the app. To enter, they will have to download the app, follow the BiP Mascot Design Discover Service and submit their contact details, then upload their design to Billo (personal cloud storage) and share the link through the BiP Mascot Design Discover Service for pre-judging. After pre-judging, from March 22-28, the shortlisted designs will be available for viewing in the BiP Mascot Design service where the public can vote for their favourite design.

Mr. Lovell continued, “Now is definitely the time to Start Livin and Get BiP’n as we can’t wait to see the submissions. We’ve also decided to get the public involved in the voting process. Since they’re the ones who will be using the app, we want them to have a say in what the mascot looks like. And, to make things more exciting, we’re offering voters a daily chance to win US$100 simply by choosing their favourite design.”

Since 2021, BiP has increased in popularity with the recent privacy concerns about WhatsApp, with 10 million downloads happening in the past few weeks, taking the overall total to more than 65 million. Globally, users have also been trending towards messaging services that offer more than the standard messaging and calling features. In addition to special messaging features like secret messages, translations, 10-person group calls and others, BiP also has games, discover channels, marketplaces and so much more.
