Saint Lucia Receives 74 Negative COVID-19 Test Results

PRESS RELEASE — Today Thursday December 3, 2020 the Ministry of Health received a total of 74 negative COVID-19 results bringing the total number of COVID-19 test done in country to date to 16, 376. No positive cases were recorded in country today. Saint Lucia has had a total of 141 recoveries in country to date out of the 262 that have been diagnosed. At present, all of the active cases are stable and doing well.

We are now into the start of the Christmas season, a period which traditionally Saint Lucians look forward to every year. It is usually marked by much social and commercial activities, as well as festive celebrations with family and loved ones. Though we are challenged in many ways by the current threat of COVID-19, we acknowledge the cultural value this time of year has for many. The Ministry of Health wishes that everyone gives themselves and others the gift of health and safety this year. We encourage everyone to prioritize their health and take actions which promote well-being. Apart of healthy eating habits, limiting alcohol intake and not smoking, as part of the effort to achieving optimal health we also ask that everyone sticks faithfully to the protocols to limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Whether you may be a business owner, an individual in the public transportation sector, a workplace manager, or a head of a household, it is important that you ensure persons within the sphere of influence you are responsible for, maintain habits to limit the spread of the virus. We encourage you to model the appropriate behaviours and hold others accountable to do the same.

Wash and sanitize your hands often during the day
Wear a mask every time while in public and ensure it covers both the mouth and nose
Maintain the recommended six foot physical distance from others when in public
Avoid contact with other people who have flu-like symptoms
If you are experiencing flu-like symptoms, keep away from others and seek medical care immediately at the closest community respiratory clinic
