On Monday, September 7, 2020, The Insurance Council of St. Lucia (ICSL) hosted a presentation ceremony to distribute approximately $10,000 worth of scholarship funds to deserving children/guardians from member companies. The ceremony was held at ICSL’s office, #44 Brazil Street, Castries at 3:00 p.m.
As a way of giving back and contributing to the lives of the employees of its members, the Insurance Council of St. Lucia began a scholarship programme in 2002. Since its inception, 34 students, selected from a pool of applicants, have benefitted. To date, the Insurance Council has contributed approximately $170,000 in scholarships funds for a five year period. This represents a $1,000 per year for each child towards their secondary school education.
Preslee Farrell and Angelic Medard are this year’s awardees, and were added to the current proud group of students who benefitted from this philanthropic initiative.
The Council is proud to have established this initiative and looks forward to improvements in the coming years.
The Insurance Council of St. Lucia is a non-Government organization (NGO) established in 1976 arising from a lobbying exercise over amendments to insurance legislation, and has since progressed into a well-respected body representing its members’ interests.
