Big Win for South Castries Lions against Central Castries In T10 Blast Semifinal No.1

The hard hitting continues  today (Monday 6th July) with semifinal action in the Saint Lucia National Cricket Association (SLNCA) Dream X1 Saint Lucia T10 Blast at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground (DSCG).

In the first semifinal match South Castries Lions (SCL) winning the toss and batting first scored 131 for the loss of 2 wickets against Central Castries Mindoo Heritage with Johnson Charles top scoring with 60 runs off 32 deliveries that included four 4s and five 6s, Alex Antoine made 56 from 32 balls which included seven 4s and three 6s. The pair added 125 for the first wicket in 9.2 overs.

Daren Sammy not out 1 and Kester Charlemange not out 6.

Bowling for Central Castries Mindoo Heritage, Sanjay Hayle picked up 2 for 24.

In reply, just before press time, Central Castries found the total an uphill battle as they were skittle out for 46 runs in the 9th over.

Meanwhile, six matches were played this past weekend to complete the Super 4 stage of the tournament.

In the first match on Friday 3rd, South Castries Lions decided to bowl first at Central Castries Mindoo Heritage (CCMH), limiting them to 70 for 5 in their 10 overs. For CCMH Gaspard Prospere scored 15 off 18 deliveries, Stephen Naitram, 14 off 18 balls and Alleyne Prospere 14 off 13.

Bowling for South Castries Lions (SCL), Man of the match, Kester Charlemagne bagged 3 for 9 off his 2 overs.

In their 10 overs South Castries Lions easily overhauled the target, reaching 71 for 1 in 8 overs with Johnson Charles leading the charge with 42 off 20 balls.

Dillan John was the lone wicket taker for Central Castries with 1 for 13 off his 2 overs.

South Castries Lions won by 9 wickets.

In the 2nd match, Gros Islet decided to bat first against Mon Repos and compiled 115 for 4. Their top scorers were Man of the Match, Garvin Serieux hitting 40 off 22 and Jard Goodman who got 37 off 19.

Bowling for Mon Repos, Kevin Augustin, Keon Gaston and Hazel Charlery had 1 wicket each.

Mon Repos reply with to 91 for 5, with Shadrack Descartes making 24 off 16 and Kevin Augustin’s 22 off 7.

Bowling for Gros Islet, Kymani Sexius, Dornan Edwards, Tyrel Chicot, Simeon Gerson and Garvin Serieux had 1 wicket each.

Gros Islet Canon Blasters won by 24 runs.

On Saturday 4th, in the first match, Gros Islet Canon Blasters chose to bat versus South Castries Lions, getting to 88 for 3 in their 10 overs.  Kimani Melius hit 27 off 16 and Man of the Match Garvin Serieux got 22 off 15 balls.

Bowling for South Castries, Xavier Gabriel and Alex Antoine each got 1 wicket.

Needing 89 for victory, South Castries made 80 with Tonius Simon top scoring with 36 off 22, Collinus Callendar 21 off 15 balls and Johnson Charles 12.

Bowling for Gros Islet Cannon Blasters, Dornan Edward 1 for 7, Kymani Sexius 1 for 14, and Tyrel Chicot 1 for 22.

Gros Islet Cannon Blasters won by 8 runs.

In the 2nd match of the day, Central Castries decided to bat against the Mon Repos attack and posted 98 for 6 in their 10 overs. Stephen Naitram made 50 off 26; Jamaal James made 29 off 19 and Ackeem Auguste 12.

Bowling for Mon Repos Stars, Shadrack Descartes picked up a career best 6 for 8 in his 2 overs which also included a hat trick. (3 for 96 Stephen Naitram, 4 for 96 Jamaal James and 5 for 96 Alleyn Prospere)

Requiring 99 for victory, Mon Repos Stars reached 90 for 7 in their allotted 10 overs.  Mervin Wells top scored with 25 off 13, Sabinus Emmanuel got 23 off 18 and Hazel Charlery got 18 off 8 balls.

Bowling for Central Castries, Dillan John picked up 2 for 7; Alvin Prospere 1 for 12; Tyler Sookwa 1 for 15 and  Alleyn Prospere 1 for 18.

Central Castries won by 8 runs.

On Sunday 5th, the first match saw South Castries Lions took first strike against Mon Repos Stars and went on to score 94 for 4. Johnson Charles top scored with 39 off 15 deliveries; Daren Sammy chipped in with 31 off 28 balls and Tonius Simon 8.

Bowling for Mon Repos, Shadrack Descartes took 2 for 8 and Keon Gaston 1 for 11.

In their reply, Mon Repos got to 88 for 6 with Kevin Augustin scoring 29 off 11 deliveries; Keon Gaston 26 off 23 balls and Shervin Charles 11.

Bowling for South Castries, Tarrick Edward 1 for 11, Daniel Baptiste 1 for 14; Alex Antoine 1 for 16; Kester Charlemagne 1 for 18 and Xavier Gabriel 1 for 27.

South Castries won by 6 runs. Johnson Charles was adjudged Man of the Match.

In the 2nd match and last of the Super 4s, Castries Central Mindoo Heritage put Gros Islet Cannon Blasters in and went on to score 122 for 4 in their allotted 10 overs. Kimani Melius continue his good run on form, he top scored with 60 that included seven 4s and six 6s 60 off 30 balls; Vernillus Gabriel made 27 off 9 balls and Garvin Serieux Jr 12.

Bowling for Central Castries, Alleyne Prospere took 2 for 33, Jaden Elibox 1 for 16 and Dillan John 1 for 18.

Chasing a reduced target of 80 in 6 overs due to time lost, Central Castries could only managed 49 for 2 in 6 overs with Stephen Naitram getting 21 off 13, Keddy Lesporis 14 not out and Ackeem Auguste 9.

Bowling for GICB, Tyrel Chicot picked up 1 for 3.

Gros Islet Cannon Blasters won by 30 runs. Kimani Melius was adjudged Man of the Match.
