Just about 24 hours after addressing a room filled with government ministers, religious leaders, parliamentarians, technocrats, health administrators, reporters and members of the public at the Point Seraphine Financial Center, Prime Minister Allen Chastanet was of this morning tested for the dreaded coronavirus or the strain known as COVID-19.
A release from his office on the Castries Waterfront confirmed that the prime minister felt unwell and in accordance with established protocols, went into self-quarantine.
“As soon as the results are available the public will be informed,” stated the release from the Office of the Prime Minister.
Prime Minister Chastanet has been attending several consultative meetings over the past days with several groups and organizations ramping up Saint Lucia’s defence programme against the Coronavirus.
His latest was yesterday where he, along with Opposition Leader Philip J Pierre, Tourism Minister Dominic Fedee, Health Minister Mary Isaac, Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Brian Louisy and others addressed a gathering comprising a cross section of the population.
