Pretty In Pink

GOVERNMENT House on Morne Fortune was the place to be last Sunday afternoon as hundreds of women from all social strata gathered on its grounds to celebrate International Women’s Day and simply have a good time.

The place was awash with Pink, it being the colour theme for the gathering. It was the second time, last year being the first, the pretty in pink, with a hat affair was held as ladies outdid themselves in dress and fashion.

It was an afternoon where all shades of pink collided where prizes were given for best dress and best fascinator.

It was an afternoon of inspiring stories delivered by women who have had extraordinary struggles in overcoming daunting situations. Trunk show, door prizes, raffles, auctions, good food and wines were all part of the afternoon’s celebration.

Whatever monies made that afternoon went to the Saint Lucia Nurses Association. The event was labelled “Tea and Testimony” and was hosted by Raquel Du Boulay-Chastanet.

Micah George is an established name in the journalism landscape in St. Lucia. He started his journalism tutelage under the critical eye of the Star Newspaper Publisher and well known journalist, Rick Wayne, as a freelancer. A few months later he moved to the Voice Newspaper under the guidance of the paper’s recognized editor, Guy Ellis in 1988.
