CRICKET action in the 2020 Massy United Insurance Under – 19 schools tournament in collaboration with the Ministry for Youth Development and Sports continued this week, with victories for Castries Comprehensive Secondary (CCSS), Saint Lucia Sports Academy (SLSA) and Leon Hess Comprehensive Secondary School (LHCSS).
At the Balata playing field, CCSS defeated Jon Odlum Secondary School by 63 runs.
Batting first CCSS got to 173 all out in 32 overs. J’ Adelle Louis top scored with 34, while other double figure contributions came from Zayee Antoine 19 and Joshua Cepal 15.
Bowling for Jon Odlum Secondary, Scott Williams had figures of 3 for 24 and Janoi James 3 for 29.
Requiring 174 for victory, Jon Odlum Secondary replied with 109 all out off 22 overs. Scott Williams and Terry Thomas both stroked 22.
For CCSS, Donovan Phillip had impressive returns of 4 for 21, Mc Kenny Clarke 3 for 15 and Vishal Singh 2 for 13.
At the La Ressource playing field, Saint Lucia Sports Academy (SLSA) defeated Soufriere Comprehensive Secondary School (SCSS) by six wickets.
SCSS batting first got to 148 all out in 23.4 overs. Kezman Desir 27, Kanye Ferguson 26 and Stephan Theophane. 14 were the leading scorers.
Bowling for SLSA, Jerquan Deshong 3 for 24, KevinGassie 2 for 36 and Royce Paul 2 for 23 were the most successful bowlers.
Needing 149 for victory SLSA reach 151 for the loss of 4 wickets in 19.3 overs. Tarryck Edward played a dominant inning of 60, Kevin Gassie struck 32.
Bowling for SCSS, Stephan Theophane picked up 2 for 30 before SLSA completed their victory.
In a one sided encounter Leon Hess Comprehensive Secondary School (LHCSS) dominated Corinth Secondary by 279 runs. Winning the toss and batting LHCSS piled up an impressive 354 for five in 35 overs with Khan Elcock striking a superb 114. Other sizeable contributions came from Jaden Elibox 76, Keygan Arnold 62, Udell Preville 35 and Shawnil Edward 32 not out.
Bowling for Corinth Secondary, Kendrick James claimed 3 for 84 in eight overs.
In reply Corinth Secondary buckled under the pressure of their mammoth victory chase folding for 75 in 17.5 overs. Kneev Herbert 24 not out and Ravi Ochilien the only batsmen to reach double figures.
For LHCSS, Jaden Elibox bagged 5 for 17.
